Dawn is a South Florida native, born and raised in Coral Springs. This beach lover balances a busy schedule as an account manager at an advertising agency, and as a mom to a 4-year-old daughter. Dawn joined ah.mi with her friend Lisa to get ready for a girls’ trip to Mexico, and along the way, learned how to eat healthier and be more active (and her husband naturally reaped the benefits and got super healthy too!). You’ll always find her with an apple and almonds on hand for a quick and healthy snack!

 
 
 

How many times a week do you aim to work out? 

I aim for 4 days a week.

On a normal week, what do your workouts consist of? 

Yoga Joint Deerfield Beach has been a game changer for me! I mix it up with a spin class on Sundays at CycleBar Boca Raton.

What are some of your healthy food staples for breakfast, lunch, and dinner?

The Egg Muffins 🥚🍅 are a must for me in the morning. I'll also make up a big batch of Instant Pot soup for lunches throughout the week. Zucchini has become a key ingredient for me at dinnertime...zoodles, zucchini boats, roasted up in the oven...it is so versatile!

Do you have a self-care ritual? 

I loooooove a good glass of Cabernet Sauvignon and will have one Trader Joe's Dark Chocolate covered Honey Grahams with Sea Salt to end the day. It might sound arbitrary... but I'll also treat myself to a Starbucks soy latte on Sunday after spin class, once I've met my 4/4 workouts for the week. 

Why did you join ah.mi?

My friend Lisa and I were going on a girls trip to Mexico this past April and wanted to get bikini ready. We inspired each other to stay on track working towards a shared goal.  

 

How has committing to being healthy with a friend helped you?

ah.mi has helped me to adopt a more mindful way of eating and working out. The original goal was to get back into my bikini, but it was important that I didn't fall into another crash diet. Along the way, I've learned how to maintain an overall healthier and more balanced way of life. I indulge when I want to but for the most part, I am just trying to make better choices.  

Anything else you want to add about how you stay healthy? 

A little bit of planning goes a long way. I'll take a few minutes on Sunday morning to plan out my meals and recipes for the week... then hit Trader Joe's to get everything I need. I've found a love of cooking that I never knew I had!
